First ESG Product & Initiative Digest

Eco-friendly and socially-oriented products from MosBuild exhibitors

MosBuild adheres to ESG principles and supports companies that incorporate ESG initiatives into their operations. Here is our first digest in which exhibitors talk about their eco-friendly products and production processes promoting the preservation of nature, resources, and the health of customers.

Kiilto switches to new packaging made of recycled plastic

Kiilto, a Finnish manufacturer of building and finishing materials and industrial adhesives, launched an international initiative called Our Promise to the Environment in 2018. The initiative has environmental targets in four areas: energy, packaging, logistics, and materials.

As part of the programme, Kiilto Russia began switching to new packaging made of recycled plastic in spring 2021. Today, around 85% of the products available in plastic packaging come in grey recycled plastic containers. From 1 October 2021, all plastic buckets for products are made only of recycled plastic.

At Kiilto, care for the environment is integrated into work processes, which means using appropriate raw materials, using resources efficiently, and engaging in a closed-loop economy.

Gelios 35-04 - a water-saving mixer

TM ARGOTECH products follow a sustainable philosophy. The mixers are manufactured using technology that allows every customer to contribute to the preservation of natural resources.

The Gelios 35-04 mixer saves up to 60% water per day. Instead of a normal water jet, a jet enriched with maximum airflow is delivered. The water flow rate is between 5 and 8 litres per minute. In comparison, a conventional mixer has a water flow rate of 10 to 13 litres per minute at the same pressure setting.

With its modern design, six colour options, and affordable price, this mixer is a real showpiece in any bathroom. No industrial plastic or polyethylene is used in the packaging of TM ARGOTECH mixers, and no lead-based paint is applied to the packages.

For health and the environment: CRETO antibacterial tiles

In 2021 the CRETO designers developed the innovative Lili tiles with SELF PROTECT antibacterial coating. The silver ions in the glaze ensure hygiene and permanent protection against bacteria, viruses, and fungus throughout the entire service life. Antibacterial protection has no expiry date: it will last as long as ceramic. When cleaning tiles, you do not need to use aggressive detergents that are harmful to health and the environment.

CRETO has developed a maximally versatile design to ensure that the Lili tiles fit into any interior. The collection is suited to residential and public spaces where hygiene is particularly important: kindergartens and schools, healthcare facilities, or restaurants.

Loymina Group launches partnership with the World Wildlife Fund

In early 2021, the Loymina Group, a manufacturer of eco-friendly non-woven wallpaper, launched a partnership with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). The official WWF logo on Loymina and Milassa wallpapers is direct evidence of the sustainability of the products and that the Loymina factory does not harm the environment, uses environmentally friendly raw materials, and applies advanced production techniques. The Loymina Group's global environmental policy is based on the principle: "We must do business with a real concern for the environment".

The company's environmental preservation priorities:

  • Saving water resources thanks to closed-loop water systems.
  • Preserving forested areas through the use of non-woven fabric containing cellulose from responsible sources.
  • Minimum emissions of VOC (Volatile organic compounds) into the atmosphere during the production process.
  • Reducing waste through lean manufacturing standards.
  • Systematic product safety checks in a certified laboratory.
  • Harmless production with phthalate-free technology: without PVC and plasticizers
  • Using paint pigments complying with safety standards for cosmetic products.

Hansgrohe plans to make all its facilities carbon neutral by 2030

Hansgrohe is currently developing various ESG areas:

  • Green technologies

Mixers and showers with EcoSmart technology use up to 60% less water than conventional devices.

CoolStart technology reduces energy consumption and CO2 emissions.  This avoids unnecessary filling of the piping system with hot water.

Another development of the Hansgrohe laboratory is AirPower, which reduces water consumption by whirl air infusion.

  • Sustainable production

Hansgrohe's policy aims to minimize waste, reduce energy consumption and optimize production and business processes. The company deploys solar panels, regenerates heat, and reuses purified water. The recycling rate of waste products is over 90%.

  • Environmental activities

An important part of the company culture is joining in events to promote the careful use of nature.

Hansgrohe representatives planted 120 trees in Baku to celebrate the company's 120th anniversary in 2021.

The Cleandanube project, in which Hansgrohe is also a sponsor, will be launched in spring 2022. In spring 2022, Andreas Fath, Professor of Chemistry at Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences, is set to swim the entire length of the Danube – from the Black Forest to the Black Sea, to garner media attention to the plastic pollution of water bodies. During the race, he will take water samples and analyze the data together with his team.

Wallpaper in close cooperation with nature

For Boråstapeter, nature is an endless source of inspiration. This is why the company is particularly careful with it. The factory uses exclusively water-based dyes and adhesives, and the paper used as raw material is sourced from one of the most environmentally friendly pulp and paper mills implementing a re-planting programme.

The Vårt Arkiv ('Our Archive') wallpaper collection features both famous patterns from the old days and the work of contemporary designers. This wallpaper will fit perfectly in all rooms of any home, regardless of the interior style. The collection features turn-of-the-century patterns, art deco, and retro wallpaper, as well as colourful themes from the 1970s.

Only natural materials in Agglotech terrazzo

Portland cement, marble chips, and water - Agglotech terrazzo made of only natural materials. Agglotech terrazzo is free of chemical resins and is made using cold technology production.

The innovative production process recycles all used water and does not require the addition of resins, without polluting the atmosphere or surrounding water bodies.

The terrazzo uses natural materials produced in Italy. Marble chips are made of marble supplied by factories that are no more than 200 km away from Verona.

Agglotech plant in Verona (Italy) handles the entire process of terrazzo production: from marble chips and colour combinations to ready-to-use blocks and slabs, according to the specific needs of the project.

Making products that are safe for consumers and the environment is a basic principle of INTERKERAMA

The development of INTERKERAMA, the largest manufacturer of ceramic tiles in Ukraine, is based on a responsible eco-policy. As part of a campaign to reduce the negative impact on the environment, the production facilities were equipped with a closed-cycle water supply system.

To reduce the consumption of natural resources, INTERKERAMA has a permit to use drainage water for technical purposes.

The INTERKERAMA production site undergoes scheduled environmental monitoring of combustion products twice a year for compliance with EN 267.

Environmental awareness of the company also focuses on the sustainable consumption of raw materials: virgin feedstock that could have been disposed of as waste is recycled and reused in the manufacture of ceramic and porcelain stoneware.

Intelligent Paints contain no additional volatile organic compounds

The Little Greene factory is located in north Wales. Here, paints with special properties are carefully produced. The combination of durability and lush colours is best represented by the Intelligent Paints range. These coatings are durable and hard-wearing, environmentally friendly, and resistant to frequent washing. They are available in the full Little Greene colour range. The paints in this range are water-based, so they dry quickly and have an almost odourless finish. Due to their high coverage, they are low-consumption, cost-effective, easy to apply, and free of inconvenience.

They can retain their original appearance up to 15 times longer than conventional home coatings. These paints are resistant to stains and marks while tolerating frequent washing.

They contain no additional volatile organic compounds and are therefore not harmful to the environment. They can be used in children's rooms, including for painting baby cots.
