New exhibitor case study: HITO, Spain


Barcelona-based HITO specialises in balls and linings for milling and grinding raw materials for the ceramic, paint and cement industries.

The company took part for the first time in MosBuild’s new Ceramics sector in 2019. We caught up with Ricard Burfau, Area Manager at HITO, to discuss their experience of both the show and the Russian ceramics industry.
 

Ricard, why did you decide to take part in MosBuild and what are your objectives?

We produce grinding media for raw materials for ceramics. We exhibit at many international ceramics fairs, and we have a distributor in Russia who is responsible for this market so we’re here to support them.
 

How has the show been so far?

It’s very good. There are around ten big factories in Russia and about eight or nine of them are here as exhibitors or visitors. The visits to our stand have been good.
 

What are the benefits of exhibiting at MosBuild for HITO?

In four days, you can meet all your important customers or potential customers. It’s a place where you can meet everyone. Russia is a very big country and it’s not easy to visit all of them and travel across the country. So, it’s good to be here.

The organisation is good, in terms of logistics it’s easy to get here, it’s well communicated, the metro is easy, there’s a main road right outside, the restaurants and facilities are very good.


 

What are your reasons for expanding into Russia?

We are focusing on the world’s main ceramics markets. Russia is an important market for us to distribute to. We have the right person to introduce our products here. Russia’s global ceramic output is not huge, but it has some very big factories, so the potential for each customer is big for us.
 

What is your competitive advantage on the Russian market?

We have a very good quality in our products. Russia is importing grinding media from China, which is not always the best quality.
 

What advice would you give to other companies looking to enter the Russian market?

You need partners that have experience and the know-how to introduce your products to the market. It’s a bit of a closed market in terms of language, it’s not easy, so it’s crucial to have good contacts.
