Design Trends 2024

Discover the latest design trends for 2024 from the leading Russian interior designers

In June, the MosBuild Connect business community hosted webinars by Natalia Preobrazhenskaya, chief designer of the Cosy Apartment studio, and designer Anna Zolotareva. Designers shared their impressions of the Milan exhibition and discussed the interior design trends that will be relevant in 2024.

One of the most prominent trends this year is the use of colour in sanitary ware and furniture. Coloured faucets, fittings, accessories and even bathrooms are now a common sight. The kitchen interior is no longer dominated by white. Even cooker hoods can now be coloured. In Russia, however, various shades of pink are particularly relevant: for example, pink-peach walls and rose-coloured glass.

Additionally, laconic fittings are a popular trend both globally and in Russia. These fittings are characterised by their minimalist design and are typically decorated with a single element.

In terms of furniture, the soft-minimalist style, characterised by dense and fluffy fabric (e.g. bouclé), will be a key trend in 2024. This will be complemented by modular and transformer furniture, including sofas, tables, kitchen sets and much more.

Art is an integral part of the design, with decorations incorporated into every space. The use of large, coarse ceramic decor in the form of coquina, arranged in groups, or coloured glass will enhance the aesthetic appeal of a modern flat.

Another trend is stone, which is sure to have a beautiful and complex lighting scenario. In addition to stone, metal, ceramics, glass and wood in a wide variety of textures and unusual shapes are very popular.

It is important to note that kitchens have evolved significantly in recent years, with many now resembling a complex puzzle or monolithic block, where all household items are concealed. The main focus is on the island, which can be round, oval, or square in shape. Some models also feature a hidden hob or sink. It is also possible to connect islands to dining tables. The defining feature of a contemporary kitchen is an open-plan format, incorporating unconventional storage solutions, metal frames, sophisticated lighting, a minimalist approach to household items and cutting-edge technology.
