ARCHITECTURE FORUM AT MOSBUILD 2021
Living environment. Practical aspects of modern housing
Housing is the most common and desired, and at the same time the most conservative typology. The biggest number of architects and project engineers is involved in residential construction. The pandemic, which made us spend more time at home, and the mortgage and building boom all over Russia raise the issue of the quality and affordability of housing. The professional community is concerned about the role and place of an architect in the process of residential project planning, and also creating the living environment. These particular questions will be discussed at the MosBuild Architecture Forum.
The Forum will include a plenary session and panel discussions on practical aspects. The plenary session in the form of a conceptual talk with the leaders of the industry will be dedicated to the role and place of an architect in residential construction. Is it all about the approved numbers and apartment layout? What is left for an architect? Just the facades, or is there more? Is an architect required at all, or will the artificial intelligence replace everything, making an architect a mere ideas packer?
The practical sessions are dedicated to the three aspects – creating quality product with limited resources, interacting with the ultimate consumers, i.e. homeowners and citizens in general, and responding to their needs, and the role of new technologies in daily work of an architect now and in the future.

Quick, cheap, high high-quality. Is it possible to build housing like this?
Session
Housing construction in Russian cities is usually going on with limited finance, time, space. Is it possible to create a high-quality product under these circumstances or is this task unfeasible from the very beginning? Architects and project owners, who are building houses in different cities across Russia, share their real-life experience.
Not just an apartment: what do consumers expect from their residential quarters
Do architects realize in what kind of environment modern citizens want to live, what they expect to see in their home, yard, residential quarter, area? How should (and should they?) the residents be involved in designing common spaces. How did the pandemic change the residents’ idea of a perfect residential complex and quarter? How do digital technologies (FoodTech, EdTech) change the perception of housing? What kinds of formats – common spaces, co-workings, parking lots, or something else, – will be sought-after in the future?
New technologies: to replace or to help an architect.
Session
Latest technological solutions enhance the efficiency of architects. How do architects use floor plan and apartment layout programmes on a daily basis. Architects themselves take part in creating software with solutions that do not only make their work easier, but replace architect’s work altogether. How will the role of an architect shift in the nearest future, what kind of skills will be desirable?
